WTC 2025, or the 2023-2025 ICC World Test Championship, is an ongoing international cricket tournament. The Test Cricket tournament that began on 16 June 2023 and will conclude on 15 June 2025. The tournament is in its final phase, with Australia and South Africa being the finalists. The match will take place from 11 June 2025 to 15 June 2025 at Lord’s Cricket Ground, London.
WTC 2025 started with nine participating teams, consisting of 70 matches. Twenty-seven series were held in the league stage format. After the league stage came to a conclusion, Australia and South Africa were the top two teams in the table. Therefore, these two teams advanced to the final match. Each match consists of 12 points and is awarded based on a specific system. The winner takes it all, and in case of a tie, both teams receive 6 points. The team that loses gets no points, and if the match comes to a draw, then both teams get 4 points.
The WTC 2025 is the third Edition of the ICC World Test Championship since the 2021-2023 WTC. New Zealand won the tournament’s debut season after defeating India in the finals. In the second season, India once again qualified for the finals against Australia. However, Australia emerged victorious and won the second season. In the ongoing season, India placed third in the point table and couldn’t qualify for the finals.
WTC 2025 Final Prize Money Revealed: How Much Will the Winner Take Home?
Australia has qualified for the WTC 2025 for the second time and can hope to achieve a consecutive championship. South Africa has qualified for the finals for the first time and can possibly earn their first victory.
In the past two seasons, the prize pool for the WTC was $3.8 million, out of which the champions earned $1.6 million. Australia has already won this prize in the previous year. There’s no prize pool given for the ongoing season. However, the prize money for the winner and runner-up teams has been revealed, and it’s more than double the amount of the previous year.

How Much Will the Winner Take Home?
Recently, the ICC disclosed the final prize money for the winners and the runner-ups after the final match. The Champions of the WTC 2025 will take home $3.6 million, whereas he runner-up teams will receive $2.16 million.
Both teams have the opportunity to take more than what was offered in the previous years. Even the runner-up prize money is more than that of the winning money from the last two seasons. In terms of prize money, it’s a win-win for both teams. But both team will give it their all to take away the larger amount and raise the trophy of the 2025 ICC World Test Championship.
