Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 Start Date: Schedule, Host, Format, Teams, Squads & Venues

The Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 start date is on 30 September 2025 and finishes on 2 November 2025. The tournament has eight teams participating in the tournament. The main host is India, and Sri Lanka is the neutral venue. The final game’s venue is not clear due to Pakistan.

Sri Lanka was added as the extra host venue because of the recent controversies surrounding India and Pakistan. All other matches played by the remaining teams will occur in India.

The total number of matches in the whole tournament will be 31 matches, including qualifiers, semi-finals and finals. Only four teams in the groups will be allowed to proceed to the semi-finals, and those four teams will have a playoff match for a space in the World Cup Finals for 2025.

In terms of the records for the Women’s Cricket World Cup, Australia is the previous season’s champion against England. Australia has made a record of nine finals, over twelve seasons, winning the finals seven times.

Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 Start Date: Schedule

The Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 will begin on 30 September 2025. The debut match will feature India vs. TBA (To be announced). The debut game will be held at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. The entire schedule is yet to be updated, but we do have some information regarding the playoff games and their venues.

The semi-final matches will be played at the end of October on 29 and 30 October 2025 on different venues. As mentioned previously, the tournament will conclude on 2 November 2025, which will feature the final match. Bengaluru is guaranteed to host the second semi-final match.

The Semi-final and final match venues will depend on Pakistan’s performance. If they qualify for the semi-final and final, Colombo will host the matches. Pakistan reaching only the semis will feature the final match in Bengaluru. In case they do not advance to the knockout stage, all the matches will be held in Bengaluru.

Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 Host and Format

Initially, India was going to host the Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. However, due to the recent Indo-Pak border tensions related to the Palgham attack and retaliation, the tournament will have a joint host.

It is also related to India’s change of venue request in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, where Pakistan was the host. It is speculation, but all the games against Pakistan will be held in Sri Lanka, as they are the joint hosts.

The Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 will follow the One-Day International (ODI) format, which will consist of 50 overs per innings. Based on the format, the matches will start in the afternoon (IST) and end at night. Each day will consist of only a single match.

As mentioned, there are eight teams participating in the Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. India, being the host, qualifies by default.

After taking the top two ranks in the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier, Pakistan and Bangladesh automatically qualify for the tournament.

The remaining five teams have qualified based on their ranks in the 2022–2025 ICC Women’s Championship.

Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 Venues

There are a total of six venues in the Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. Being the primary host, India will be presenting five venues to the teams. Sri Lanka is offering one stadium for the teams to compete in their matches against Pakistan.

The Indian cities featuring the matches are: Indore, Mullanpur, Nava Raipur, Thiruvananthapuram and Vishakapatnam, whereas Sri Lanka will host the match at Colombo.
