Today, 6th January 2026, is surely a day for records to be created in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. First, Aman Rao’s double century was registered in the history books, and now Vishnu Vinod’s 162-run knock breaks many records in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. It was a Group A match in the Vijay Hazare Trophy Elite 2025-26, where Kerala were playing Puducherry at the Narendra Modi Stadium A Ground in Ahmedabad.
Kerala’s captain, Rohan Kunnummal, won the toss and put Puducherry in to bat first. The Puducherry team batting first scored 247/10 in 47.4 overs. Jashwanth Shreeram and wicket keeper, Ajay Rohera, scored half-centuries for their team. MD Nidheesh was the pick of the bowlers for the Kerala team as he had bowling figures of 4/41 in eight overs. Ankit Sharma and Eden Apple Tom took two wickets each.

Vishnu Vinod’s 162-run knock breaks many records in the Vijay Hazare Trophy
The Kerala team lost two early wickets as the score was 30/2 when Vishnu Vinod, the superstar of the day, came in to bat. Vishnu Vinod and Baba Aparajith took away the match from the Puducherry team as they added an unbeaten 222-run stand, which took away the match from the Puducherry team. Baba Aparajith scored 63* runs in 69 balls, but Vishnu Vinod was the standout performer of the innings.
Vishnu Vinod scored 162* in 64 balls. His innings included thirteen boundaries, and he made the ball cross the line fourteen times. He completed his century in just 63 balls. From 100 to 150, it just took him 18 balls to complete the runs, as he scored 150 runs in just 81 balls. With reaching this milestone, he became the third fastest player to get 150 runs in List A cricket. Vaibhav Suryavanshi (59) and Dinesh Karthik (80) are the only players who have taken fewer balls than him.
This is not it, as he smashed 14 sixes in this match, now Vishnu Vinod places himself in the second position for the most sixes in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He surpassed Ruturaj Gaikwa,d who hit 105 sixes in 55 innings, as Vishnu Vinod now has 106 sixes in 53 innings. Only Manish Pandey is above him, and only two sixes separate the two players. After this win, Kerala now sit on the third position of the points table of Group A with four wins in six matches.
