Did Virat Kohli denied a handshake with the South Africa Coach, Shukri Conrad, after India defeated South Africa in the first ODI at Ranchi on 30th November 2025? There is a video that is circulating on social media that shows Virat Kohli denied a handshake with the coach when players were shaking hands with the South African coaching staff after the match.
This might be due to the comments that the South African coach gave after whitewashing the Indian team in the test series. He used the word “really grovel”. This created more and more reactions from the fans and also the players off-field. It also gives a negative impact when an experienced member of the management staff, and especially the head coach, uses such words in the press conference.

India and South Africa were playing the first ODI at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi. Basically, India won that match by 17 runs. We saw a vintage Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli show, as Virat got his 52nd ODI century and Rohit Sharma broke Shahid Afridi’s record for the most sixes in the ODI format. He is now on 352 sixes.
Virat Kohli allegedly refused to shake hands with Conrad after the first ODI in Ranchi, as per a social media video. The video doesn’t show Kohli extending his hand, but it does start when he is close to the South African Conrad. The next two South African players are then given a handshake by Kohli. It’s unclear from the brief video whether Kohli and Conrad had already shaken hands before the recording or not.
Now, India is all set to play the second ODI match on the 3rd of December, which is a Wednesday. The Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur will be the venue. Eventually, the match will start at 1:30 PM local time. If India manages to win this match, then surely the series is over. The South Africa team is all fired up, as they, after having a bad start, still managed to lose by just 17 runs.
