Just recently, the ICC Men’s T20 Bowler ratings were out, and it is Varun Chakravarthy who broke Jasprit Bumrah’s record and proved why he is the best T20I bowler right now. You might be wondering what the record is, and you don’t need to worry; we have got you covered. Varun Chakravarthy is also the only Indian bowler in the top ten list for the Men’s T20I bowling ranking.
Varun Chakravarthy, the mystery spinner, is one of the best and most reliable bowlers for the Indian team in the T20I format and is proving his worth from time to time on the field wearing that Indian team jersey. Just recently, Varun Chakravarthy became the highest-rated bowler from his country in the ICC T20I rankings and has gone way above India’s current best bowler, Jasprit Bumrah.

Varun Chakravarthy breaks Jasprit Bumrah’s record in ICC Men’s T20 Bowler ratings: What exactly is the record?
Jasprit Bumrah, one of the consistent performers for the Indian team in all three formats, is not in the list of the top ten bowlers of the ICC T20I Bowler rankings. Jasprit Bumrah has played more than 80 matches for the Indian team in the T20I format and has just taken more than 100 wickets with an economy just under 6.5, which is one of the best economies for a bowler in the T20I format.
He has also been in the number one position for quite a long time, but now things have changed. Jasprit Bumrah previously held the record for the highest-rated bowler from his country in the ICC T20I rankings, and it was 783. It basically came in February 2017 when he took 3/14 playing against the England team at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Varun Chakravarthy currently has the bowling rating of 818, which is the best by an Indian bowler in the T20I format.
All of this happened in the third T20I when India were facing South Africa, and he had bowling figures of 2/11. Surely, let us just not look at this. Varun performed brilliantly at the Asia Cup 2025 as well, which India won. He picked up a total of six wickets in that tournament as well. Currently, he is the number one T20I bowler with an 818 rating, with New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy being second with a 699 rating, which is 119 points behind him. The best ever T20I rating belongs to Pakistan’s Umar Gul, which is 865, and let’s hope he breaks that record too.
