Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025: Ishan Kishan creates history for Jharkhand

Just recently, we saw the final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025, and it was Jharkhand who were playing Haryana. Basically, the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune was the venue for the final, whereas the date for the final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 was 18th of December 2025. Ishan Kishan created history for Jharkhand as they won their first Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Both teams finished in the top spots of the Super League group. Jharkhand is in Group A, while Haryana is in Group B. Both teams had eight points, with the team in second place also having the same points. Jharkhand and Haryana advanced to the finals due to their positive net run rates in the Super League Groups.

Ishan Kishan was captaining the Jharkhand team, whereas Ankit Kumar was captaining the Haryana team. Basically, Ankit, the Haryana captain, won the toss and decided that his team would bowl first. They came with the same team. Ishan Kishan also wanted to bowl first, but the rest is history, and they also came up with the same time.

Jharkhand lost an early wicket, which was of Virat Singh, in the first over. They added 177 runs for the second wicket with Ishan Kishan scoring 101 runs in 49 balls, which included six boundaries and ten massive sixes. Kumar Kushagra also scored 80 runs in 38 runs. Later, Anukul Roy and Robin Minz also chipped in a few runs in the end. Jharkhand scored 262/3 in 20 overs, which was the highest score in any T20 tournament final. There was a huge mountain to climb for the Haryana team.

The start of the Haryana team was a mess as they lost two important wickets in the first over itself. Yashvardhan Dalal, Nishant Sindhu, and Samant Jakhar tried to help the team in their own way, but it was not enough. Haryana just managed to score 193/10 and lost the match by 69 runs. Bal Krishna and Sushant Mishra picked up three wickets each for Jharkhand.

Ishan Kishan won the Man of the Match award in the final, whereas Anukul Roy was the Player of the Series. It was the first time that Jharkhand won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2025. Ishan Kishan also ended as the top run scorer in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025, and now he surely wants to continue in the future after losing his place in the Indian Cricket team after the 2023 World Cup.
