Smriti Mandhana Creates History: What record did she break?

Smriti Mandhana was opening the batting with her partner Shafali Varma in the fourth T20I at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. Both players added 162 runs for the first wicket, while Smriti herself scored 80 runs in 48 balls, which included 11 boundaries and three massive sixes. India Women’s eventually won the match, and she was the Player of the Match. The last match is all set to take place on 30th December as India have already won the series and are leading 4-0.

She completed 10,000 international runs and became the second Indian Women’s cricketer to do so in women’s cricket history. The first player is the legendary Mithali Raj, who is also the highest run scorer in Women’s history with 10,868 runs. Second to her is New Zealand’s Suzie Bates, who has scored 10,652. England’s Charlotte Edwards is the third player in the list with 10,273 runs.
