Keshav Maharaj to Lead Pretoria Capitals in SA20 2025/26: Franchise Confirms

Maharaj has already been the captain of one of the teams in the SA20. It was the previous season when he was the captain of the Durban Super Giants. Unfortunately, he could not help his need to qualify his team for the knockouts as his team had a bad run of form, finishing last on the points table with just two wins in the 10 matches. His team lost six and two matches were called off due to rain.

It was for the last season, and from this season, he will start his new journey with a new team in the SA20, and it is the Pretoria Capitals. He joined the team, and straightaway the management felt that, with a lot of experience playing for the South African team, he should be given the captaincy role, and they have not hesitated and gone for it. Having captained South Africa in white-ball cricket and served as a senior figure within the national set-up for several years, Maharaj’s leadership experience, tactical understanding and consistency make him an invaluable addition in this role.

His presence strengthens the balance and direction of the Pretoria Capitals squad as the team heads into the new season

The Pretoria Capitals have already built a strong team as they have purchased the young superstar, Dewald Brevis, for a record-breaking bidding of 16.5 million Rand. They have also got in Lungi Ngidi, Lizaad Williams, Craig Overton, Saqib Mahmood, and Codi Yusuf. They used their wildcard for Andre Russell. They signed  Will Jacks and Sherfane Rutherford before the SA20 2025/26 auction. They have a well-balanced team to compete for the title.
