ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is set to commence from the 7th of February and will end on the 8th of March.
The Italian team impressed everyone in the ICC European Qualifiers as they finished in second position behind the Netherlands, who also got a place at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Italy also defeated Scotland, who are one of the big names in cricket from Europe. Scotland themselves have played in six of the previous nine editions. They can have a surprise entry if Bangladesh opt out of the T20 World Cup.

Italy announces squad for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026: What to expect in 1st participation at the competition?
Basically, Italy is placed in Group C of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Bangladesh, England, Nepal, and the West Indies are others team in their group for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Italy will play their first match in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 against Bagladesh and the date for the match is 9th February. Eden Gardens in Kolkata will be the venue. Apart from the Bangladesh game, Italy plays two more matches at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata (West Indies and England). They will play against Nepal at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Wayne Madsen will be the one who will lead the Italy team at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Joe Burns was their captain at the European qualifiers, but the player who earlier played for the Australian team was in form and was also not included in the squad from the previous year. Emilio Gay will be a miss for the Italy team as he has suffered an injury, which keeps him out of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
JJ Smuts, who previously played for the South African team, has also been named in the Italy squad and will make debut for them at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. There are two pairs of brothers who will play for Italy at the big stage: Harry and Benjamin Manenti, and Anthony and Justin Mosca. John Davison is the head coach of the team, while Kevin O’Brien and Dougie Brown are named as assistant coaches.
