The India squad for New Zealand ODI Series will be out on the 3rd of January 2026 or the 4th of January 2026. Basically, India has already announced their squad for the five-match T20I series and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in the last week of December. There are high chances that the pacer, Mohammad Shami, will get his place back in the Indian team, while Rishabh Pant will be ignored again.
Basically, the three-match ODI series starts on the 11th of January 2026, with the venue for the first ODI being the BCA Stadium in Vadodara. 14th of January 2026 is the date for the second ODI, as the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot is the venue. Lastly, the date for the final ODI is the 18th of January 2026, while the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore is the venue. Eventually, the five-match T20I series starts from the 21st of January 2026 and ends on the 31st of January 2026.

India squad for New Zealand ODI Series: Shami to get his place back, most likely. Rishabh Pant to be ignored again?
When we start with Rishabh Pant, his form is surely not that great as per his standards, as he has just got a single fifty in the four matches he has played in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. At the same time, when we look at the other side, he not been in the team or got the chance in the last 18 months, and that does not look fair on his part. There can also be a reason for one of the members not to be highly confident in Rishabh Pant’s high-risk, high-reward batting style of play. It will surely be a thing to see if Pant gets a place in the team or not.
Along with Rishabh Pant, there is another star who has not been seen wearing that Indian jersey for quite a long time, and it is Mohammed Shami. There are high chances that Bumrah and Hardik Pandya might be given rest for the ODI series, and with this combination, we could see Mohammed Shami, Harshit Rana, and Arshdeep Singh as the pacers for the Indian team. Shami surely deserves to get back into the India team as he has been performing in the domestic matches.
Apart from this, there wouldn’t be any major chances to the teams as Shubman Gill will continue to lead the team as he is not part of the team for the T20I series and World Cup squad. We will also see Virat Kolhi and Rohit Sharma getting their names back in the Indian team after both players played two matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Delhi and Mumbai.
