Bangladesh Players are not happy after the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Boycott
It was initially believed that the players would be consulted and that the situation might be resolved in a positive way. However, this did not happen, as the government stood firm on its decision to boycott the major event. A few hours after the decision became public, Bangladeshi players shared what actually happened and how they felt.
They said they were not consulted at all. The players also confirmed that the government had already made its decision and was only informing them before making it public. They added that they were called only to receive an update on the situation, not to share their opinions. This is not just about cricket, as there will be a lot of financial loss that the Bangladesh Board will go through.
To be clear, they are expected to lose around USD 27 million dollars ( approx ₹240 crore. This loss includes money from broadcasting and sponsorship deals, and it could add up to nearly 60 percent of their yearly income. Because of this decision, the BCB now finds itself in a difficult position. Lastly, the ranking will also be affected and so will be the qualification for the next T20 World Cup.
