The Australia 4th Ashes Squad is out, and there are big surprises and call-ups from the management as they will again miss the captain Pat Cummins and legendary spinner Nathan Lyon for the Boxing Day Test. Basically, the 4th test will start from the 26th of December and will go on till the 30th of December 2025. The Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne will be the venue for the Boxing Day Test. England will now just have to play for pride and get a win.
In the third test match, which was played at the Adelaide Oval. Australia again dominated the baze ball as they won the match by 82 runs. Alex Carey was the Man of the Match as he scored a century in the first innings and a 72 in the second. Australia won 3-0 up in the 5-five match series and have already retained the Ashes. This has to be one of the most humiliating defeats for England as they just lost the Ashes in span of 11 days.

Australia 4th Ashes Squad: No Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon, who replaces them?
Pat Cummins, who is currently the captain of the Australian team in the test format, missed the first two test matches due to injury. He played the third test at the Adelaide Oval in which he took a total of six wickets in both innings has been ruled out of the final two test matches of the Ashes as the Australian management did not wanted to take any risk for any further injury of the player as we have the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 just less than two months to commence in India and Sri Lanka in February 2026.
He won’t play any part in the rest of the series. That was a discussion that we had a long time out around his return. Yeah, we were taking on some risk. We’ve now won the series, and that was the goal.
To position him for further risk and jeopardise him long-term is not something that we want to do.
Pat’s really comfortable with that. If he had any setback in the build-in as well, we would have shut him down straight away.
Everything went really smoothly, and full credit to him, the medical team and to navigate through that risk profile, to get him back and take six wickets in that game and nail the Ashes series was incredibly pleasing for everyone associated with that.
McDonald also spoke about how this might be a risk, but one thing that favours them is that Australia has already won the Ashes and is leading 3-0. He also mentioned that he had communicated with Pat Cummins, and he has no issues with that. McDonald also spoke about Pat Cummins’ fitness regarding the World Cup, but Australia will want him to be fit, as he is one of their most important assets going into the tournament and will play a key role.
Again, the team will be led by Steve Smith, who was also the captain for the Australian team in the first and second tests, as Australia won both matches quite comfortably. Scott Boland is back, and we will also see him in action. Jhye Richardson and spinner Todd Murphy have been recalled to participate for Australia. Michael Neser, Beau Webster, and Brendan Doggett all keep their place in the team.
