Many of them might not know, but Amit Mishra made his international debut for India before Mahendera Singh Dhoni. He first made his debut in 2003 against South Africa in the ODI format. Since then, he has played around 60 matches for India across all formats, in which he has more than 145 wickets. He was also a part of India’s ICC 2013 Champions Trophy-winning team, which was captained by Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Amit Mishra speaks on MS Dhoni: “People say if Dhoni was not there, my career would have been better….”

Over the years, you might not have seen Amit Mishra too much regarding the way he had his career for India. I Came Into the Team Under Dhoni

People say if Dhoni was not there, my career would have been better. But who knows, maybe I wouldn’t even have been in the team

He spoke about MS Dhoni being the one who brought him to the team and made him play. Mishra spoke freely and expressed his feelings by saying that if there was no Dhoni, then maybe I wouldn’t have been in the team. On multiple occasions, Amit Mishra was given a chance in the team, but the team was all competitive, with more than three world-class options available to choose from.

When Amit Mishra was in his prime, the Indian team was going through a transition with many senior players retiring, and Indian cricket was changing many things, which included the style and combination of the team. Mahendra Singh Dhoni wanted India to be the best fielding unit, as it was one of the most important things on the pitch. Dhoni succeeded when India won the Champions Trophy in 2013, when India fielded well. Just to add, Amit Mishra was part of that team.
