Again, we have seen one player impress us in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025/2026, and let me tell you, it is not Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma; it is the young 21-year-old Aman Rao. Basically, Aman Rao hit a double century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, and what a knock it has been. Just recently, in the Indian Premier League 2026 auction, he was purchased by the Rajasthan Royals for just ₹30 lakhs. The youngster has announced himself, which is why he deserves an IPL contract.
It was the match between Bengal and Hyderabad in Group B of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025/2026. Niranjan Shah Stadium in Khandheri, Rajkot, was the venue of the match, and the Hyderabad team was batting first. Surely, Aman Roa got his name in the headlines as he became the 9th player in the history of the Vijay Hazare competition to hit a double century.

Eventually, Aman Rao came into bat and just never wanted to stop as he was just smashing the bowlers all over the park. His 200* included a total of twelve boundaries and 13 massive sixes. When you look at the bowlers the Bengal team has got, the innings of Aman Rao look more and more impressive. The bowling lineup of the Bengal was led by Mohammed Shami, who himself is a big name in international cricket. Akash Deep, Mukesh Kumar, and Shahbaz Ahmed were other bowlers who were smashed out of the park.
He completed his double hundred in style with a six. Aman and his opening partner added 104 runs for the first wicket. Just to let you know, just a week prior to his List A debut, this was his third match for the Hyderabad team. With all of these efforts, his team was able to put up a target of 353 on the board for the Bengal team to chase, and surely it will be a mountain to climb for the Bengal batters. He will surely attract the eyes of the Rajasthan Royals management for a place in the playing eleven. When we look at the Rajasthan Royals team, they already have a lot of openers, and to fit Aman Rao, it would be a task. If he continuously keeps playing like that, then surely a place in the playing 11 awaits him.
Odisha’s Swastik Samal was the player before him who scored a double century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, and it came against Saurashtra in 2025. Tamil Nadu’s Narayan Jagadeesan holds the record for the highest individual score by a batter in the Vijay Hazare Trophy history. He scored 277 against Arunachal Pradesh in the 2022 edition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
