One more surprise that we have seen in 2025 has to be England finally getting a win in Australia. Basically, England wins a test match in Australia after 15 years, and what a win it was. It was a win in the Boxing Day test match, and finally, after being 3-0, they were playing for pride, and they at least got one win in the series, and it was in the fourth test match.
The first day of the Boxing Day test was just unbelievable as we saw a total of 20 wickets falling on the first day. Australia first scored 152/10, and then in reply, the England team was bowled out for just 110. At stumps one day, Australia were 4/0 and had a lead of 46 going into the next day. The MCG also recorded the highest attendance crowd at a match in the MCG on the first day of the 4th test.

Australia lost the night watchman Scott Boland in the 7th over. Jake Weatherald and Manus Labuschagne did not impress with the bat. Travis Head and Steve Smith tried to steady the innings but couldn’t bat long. Australia was bowled out for 132, setting a target of 175 for England to win the match. Brydon Carse impressed with the ball as he had figures of 4/34, while Ben Stokes also took three wickets.
England came into bat, and the openers, Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley, gave the team a good start. Both players added a 50-run partnership for the first wicket. Brydon Carse was dismissed for six as the Ollie Pope replacement, Jacob Bethell scored 40 runs with the bat and was the highest scorer for England. Basically, England won the match as Harry Brook scored the winning runs for them.
Finally, England won a test match in Australia after 15 years. The last time they won a test match in Australia was way back in 2011, and it was more than 5000 days and 18 test matches that he didn”t secure a win. Although they have lost the series, this was a much-needed win for them to keep their pride. Josh Tongue was the Player of the Match for his total of seven wickets in the match. The last and final test of the Ashes will start on 4th January 2026 and Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney is the venue.
