India’s Squad for the T20 World Cup 2026 and the New Zealand Series will be out on 20th December: Any surprise inclusion?

The date is not far as we will get India’s T20 World Cup 2026 Squad as well as the New Zealand Series announcement on the 20th of December. It was confirmed that the squad that will play against the New Zealand team will be the squad that India will go with in the upcoming T20 World Cup, which starts on 7th February 2026.

Basically, India is all set to play three ODIs and five T20Is against New Zealand in their upcoming series, which starts from the 11th of January 2026. Eventually, the T20I series will start from the 21st of January 2026 and will end on the 31st of January, which is almost one week before the T20 World Cup starts. Nagpur, Raipur, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, and Thiruvananthapuram are the five venues for the T20I series.

Basically, India and Sri Lanka are the hosts for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. India is in Group A along with Namibia, the Netherlands, Pakistan, and the United States of America. Basically, India will play their first match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 on the 7th of February 2026, which is the third match on the first day of the competition. It will be against the United States of America, and the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai will be the venue.

It is the 20th of December when the selection committee chairperson, Ajit Agarkar, and India’s T20 format captain, Suryakumar Yadav, in a press conference, will make the announcement for the India squad for the New Zealand series and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Basically, the whole committee will gather at the BCCI Headquarters in Mumbai.

The Senior Men’s Selection Committee will meet at the BCCI Headquarters in Mumbai, on Saturday, to pick India’s squad for the T20I series against New Zealand and the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. It will be followed by a press conference to be addressed by captain Suryakumar Yadav and selection committee chairperson Ajit Agarkar

There might not be any surprises, but surely if there are any sort of injuries to any players, then it might happen. We could see a surprise, but it would be after the 2026 T20 World Cup. India could move on from Suryakumar Yadav as the captain and it to Shubman Gill but nothing is confirmed yet regarding it.
