There might be a lot of teams shocked by the way Chennai Super Kings started the Indian Premier League 2026 auction. They went for Cameron Green, but Kolkata outplayed them and took away Green from them. Chennai Super Kings kept calm and were waiting for their turn to come to buy the players.

They purchase two uncapped Indian players for a whomping ₹28.4 crore, which is what Chennai Super Kings is not known for. They purchase wicket-keeper batter Kartik Sharma and a like-to-like replacement for Ravindra Jadeja, Prashant Veer. The price tag is surely high, and when the Chennai Super Kings spend so much, then surely it is one to watch out for. They also purchase Akeal Hosein (₹2 crore), Rahul Chahar (₹5.2 crore), Sarfaraz Khan (₹75 Lakhs), Mathew Short (₹1.5 crore), Zakary Foulkes (₹75 Lakhs), and Aman Khan (₹40 Lakhs).

Chennai Super Kings will be captained by Ruturaj Gaikwad, and they have the experience of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Ayush Mhatre and Urvil Patel are other young guns who will have all the eyes on them and need to take on the responsibility for the Chennai Super Kings. Dewald Brevis is another overseas youngster who will play an important role in the team. The bowling department will be led by Nathan Ellis, and let’s not forget that they also traded Sanju Samson.
