We are nearing the IPL 2026 Auction, and now we have more than 1300 players who have given their names to get picked up by one of the ten Indian Premier League franchises. Basically, the 16th of December is the date for the IPL 2026 Auction. Eventually, the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, will be the venue for the IPL 2026 Auction to take place.
Many of the Indian Premier League franchises have already retained their core, and some of the teams have also traded players. Chennai Super Kings have acquired Sanju Samson and traded Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran with the Rajasthan Royals. Before the IPL 2026 Auction, Andre Russell announced his retirement through his social media after he was not being retained by the Kolkata Knight Riders. He will not play for them, but now he is the power coach for the Kolkata Knight Riders. Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali also will not feature in the IPL 2026 as they will continue playing the PSL. Glenn Maxwell has also announced that he will not put his name in the IPL 2026 Auction.
Kolkata Knight Riders have the most money in their purse, which is ₹64.3 crore, while the team second to them are the five-time champions Chennai Super Kings with ₹43.4 crore. Sunrisers Hyderabad have ₹25.5 crore, while Lucknow and Delhi have ₹22.95 crore and ₹21.8 crore. Bangalore has ₹16.4 crore, Rajasthan has ₹16.05 crore, Gujarat has ₹12.9 crore. Punjab has ₹11.5 crore, and Mumbai just has ₹2.75 crore coming to the IPL 2026 Auction.
There are some time bigs who have their names going under the hammer. Cameron Green can be the most expensive purchase from the IPL 2026 Auction. A total of more than 45 players have a base price of more than ₹2 crore. Cameron Green, Liam Livingstone, Ravi Bishnoi, Venkatesh Iyer, Matheesha Pathirana, and Wanindu Hasaranga are a few of the names.
